Our

you will be able to give something back to the community.
We are always needing new volunteers, so please come help
us out. Send us an email at info@pridelafayette.org and
we'll add you to our volunteers email list.

OUToberFest 2008
There are too many openings to list here. This event will take over 100 volunteers to make this work well. From set-up to tear-down, sign ins, help vendors with booth location, working a kid's game, helping in various booths, you name it we will need it. Please consider helping during all or part of this event to help make it successful.
Publicity Team
Do you have skills in desktop publishing? Or do you like to post flyers? Or how about talking to others to spread the word? All of these things are needed for our publicity. It's critical that people out there become aware that we exist and that they know what we have to offer. The Pride Lafayette Quarterly newsletter is currently our main publicity outlet, but we want to expand our publicity efforts to cover as many media as possible and increase in frequency. This effort will be the role of the publicity team.
Photographer
We need someone who enjoys taking pictures of events and other items of interest. Feedback we've received tells us we need more pictures on our web site and to keep them updated regularly. Not everyone is comfortable having their picture taken, so the photographer needs to be discreet and respectful of people's wishes.

Community Center Volunteer
The Pride Lafayette Community Center is currently open on Sundays 3PM-5PM, Tuesdays 6PM-8PM, Thursdays 6PM-6PM, and Fridays 6PM-8PM. Volunteers are always needed to help fill these time slots. Those interested in volunteering to staff the center need to begin by spending some time at the center during office hours to get familiar with how it operates. Then, there will be a training period that will conclude with the volunteer being given keys to the Center and assigned to selected time slots.
Fundraising Committee Member
Obtaining funds to support our services and activities is always an ultimate priority. Michael Behrens, our organization's secretary, also serves as the Fundraising Committee chairperson. He has successfully coordinated numerous fundraising events for our organization, but he has an ongoing need for energized volunteers to assist with future events. Please see the Community Calendar for committee meeting times.
Programming Committee Chairperson & Committee Members
We need volunteers to help us plan and organize our events and activities at the Community Center. We're primarily wanting to host speakers on various topics of interest to the community. So, we need volunteers who have connections to people in the community who might be willing to do speaking engagements for little, or preferably, no cost. We also would like to host discussion groups on various topics. So, we also need volunteers with skills in conducting group discussions.
Web Site Maintenance Team Member
Kelly Leonard, our organization's Vice President and webmaster, has an ongoing need for those with web design experience to help him update the web site and keep it looking fresh. This is a critical tool for reaching out to the community and spreading the word of our activities.
Metrics Reporter
The primary duty for this volunteer is to set up a system to track the metrics outlined by our strategic plan. The volunteer will need to coordinate with the executive committee to establish tools for generating data used in the tracking system. The volunteer will submit monthly reports on metric data to the board of directors. The reports would preferably be submitted in person by attending the monthly meetings, but may also be submitted by email prior to the meeting.
Librarian
The Community Center's library needs a librarian who will organize the books, track them in a database, and set up a nice loan system. The librarian would also help update the collection by surveying the community to find books of interest.
Historian
This person will collect information about our organization's past and organize it into artistic forms--written histories, scrapbook, or whatever seems appropriate. The goal for this volunteer is to provide an easy way for any newcomer to get up to speed on what has happened in the past so they can make an informed contribution as they help build our future.
Other possibilities....they are endless. Just drop us a line at info@pridelafayette.org and we'll figure out a way you can help.
