HIV Resources

Testing for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s) is an important part of ensuring good health for yourself and your partners. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends yearly HIV screening for individuals aged 13 to 64 years old. The CDC offers an online resource that provides information regarding HIV, AIDS, and other sexually transmitted diseases/ infections. The CDC website providing this information can be found at http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/default.htm.

Testing for other STD's besides HIV/AIDS is very important as well. Some people with an STD may not have any visible signs or symptoms and infections can be passed through vaginal, anal, and oral sex. If you’ve had a change in sexual partner or think you may have been exposed to an infection, stop having sex and contact your heath care provider for screening. Planned Parenthood of Indiana (PPIN) offers confidential medical services to everyone. You may contact PPIN by telephone at 765-446-8078 and can visit their website at http://www.ppin.org for more information.

Pride Lafayette hosts quarterly free rapid HIV testing at the Pride Lafayette Community Center. Check the Pride Lafayette calendar for upcoming free rapid HIV screening test dates. If you seek additional information about the testing, please e-mail PPIN Disease Intervention Specialist Monique Clesi at monique.clesi@ppin.org.
