Join us on March 23rd. 2013 from 6pm-9pm for a special presentation by Sir Ernie, Indiana Leather Sir 2012, who will be speaking on the Gay Leather subculture with a focus on its practices and styles of dress, organized around sexual activities to include BDSM (Bondage / Discipline, Dominance / Submission, Sado/Masochism) dynamics in a Sir/boy relationship and the importance of open and honest communication. Focusing on the origins of Gay Leather, the evolution through the AIDS crisis, and “TNG” “The New Generation of Leather”. The wearing of Leather is one way that participants distinguish themselves from mainstream sexual cultures. Discussion on wearing black leather clothing as erotic fashion as well as the meaning behind the “code” that Leathermen have developed over the years in order to protect themselves. The expression of heightened masculinity in contrast to the opposite end of the spectrum of our Drag “sisters” expressing the extreme feminine side of our larger gay community. Gay Leather focuses on the appropriation of sexual power; love of motorcycles and independence; and/or engagement in sexual kink or leather fetishes.
